Reinhard Zeller

Reinhard Zeller, MD, MsC, FAOA is a paediatric orthopaedic and spine surgeon internationally recognised for his expertise in complex spinal deformities, including early-onset scoliosis, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, congenital deformities, and high grade spondylolisthesis. He served as Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and was a senior member of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Toronto, where he led the paediatric spine programme for over 16 years.

Dr. Zeller trained in Paris with Professors Raymond Roy-Camille and Jean Dubousset and completed a fellowship at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. He holds a graduate degree in biomechanics from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) and has contributed to the development and refinement of modern spinal instrumentation and surgical techniques. Over a career spanning more than 35 years, he performed over 2,000 paediatric spinal fusions.

A past President of the Canadian Pediatric Spine Society (2016–2019), Dr. Zeller has been deeply involved in international education, mentorship, and research through societies such as SRS, POSNA, EPOS, and SFCR. Approaching retirement in 2026, he continues to engage in academic, advisory, and educational activities, while pursuing longstanding interests at the intersection of medicine, art, history, and biomechanics.
